Support Rangatahi

No matter how you decide to fundraise or get involved during Bandanna Day, you're ensuring that rangatahi don't need to face cancer alone - thank you.

Canteen Aotearoa in collaboration with Drax Project are so excited to bring you this new schools initiative.

This year we're challenging schools across Aotearoa to help us continue to support rangatahi impacted by cancer. Canteen Aotearoa is a not-for-profit which strives to support young people impacted by cancer age 13 - 24. This could be a fellow student, a teammate, friend, or even a teachers child who is impacted by cancer.

In 2024 help us continue to provide vital services by creating a fundraiser and getting your school involved! By doing so you'll not only be ensuring we can continue our work, but you'll let rangatahi impacted by cancer know their school community is behind them and supporting them, by supporting Canteen.

In partnership with Drax Project, any school who registers, creates a fundraiser, and fundraises during June 2024, will be eligible to win a live acoustic performance from Drax Project at their school! Key guidelines and rules must be followed, which are outlined below by clicking "read guidelines here"

From all of us here at Canteen Aotearoa, thank you for supporting and participating in this years Bandanna Day School Challenge. Through your generosity, kindness, and fundraising, you're ensuring rangatahi throughout Aotearoa don't need to face cancer alone.

Fundraising ideas

Fundraising can be hard, but we can help! Here are some great ideas of easy and simple fundraisers that are school friendly, and easy to engage the entire communtiy.

  • Mufti-day - charge a gold coin or two.
  • Morning or Afternoon Tea - bake some delicious treats and sell them in the quad or during lunch breaks.
  • Head shave - get permission first, but a head shave is a fun and great way to show your support. Students and teachers can get involved, and it's a great social media post!
  • Guess the lolly - collect a number of lollies in a jar, and get students, teachers, and staff to pay a gold coin or two to guess the number! Closest wins the jar of lolly.
  • Sausage Sizzle - always a winner and great idea for a lunchtime treat.
  • Add a donation option - add the option to donate on upcoming performances, sporting events, or guest speakers people need to register for.
  • Sell our iconic bandanna's! Contact us if you'd like this option by emailing: info@canteen.org.nz

Your support means BIG impact

The smallest donation can make the biggest impact! With every dollar raised, our supporters can make a huge difference in the lives of rangatahi across Aotearoa.

  • Ensuring Canteen has the capacity to support an increasing number of rangatahi referred to Canteen each year,
  • Ensuring Canteen has enough staff to mantain and develop innovative and fun events to meet the needs of our rangatahi,
  • Continued funding and resourcing of essential projects, like the provisions of robots in schools for rangatahi hospitalised during treatment.
