1. About Bandanna Day
Bandanna Day is Canteen Aotearoa's annual flagship fundraising campaign. By registering as a fundraiser, you are helping to raise vital funds that support rangatahi aged 13–24 who are impacted by cancer.
Bandanna Day is organised by Canteen Aotearoa Incorporated (Canteen, we, us, or our), a registered charity (CC11087) located at Level 6, 110 Symonds Street, Grafton, Auckland 1010.
2. Eligibility
By registering as a Bandanna Day fundraiser, you confirm that:
• You are a resident of New Zealand.
• You are aged 18 years or older, or if under 18, you have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
• All information you have provided upon registration is accurate and complete.
• You agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions in full.
3. Fundraiser Responsibilities
As a registered Bandanna Day fundraiser, you agree to:
• Conduct all fundraising activities honestly, lawfully, and in a manner consistent with Canteen's values.
• Not make any false, misleading, or deceptive representations in connection with the campaign or about Canteen Aotearoa.
• Ensure that any fundraising activity you undertake complies with all applicable New Zealand laws, including (without limitation) the Charities Act 2005 and any relevant local council or workplace requirements.
• Not use Canteen's name, logo, or any campaign materials for any commercial purpose or personal gain beyond the fundraising activity itself.
• Promptly transfer all funds raised to Canteen through the authorised channels provided at registration. Funds collected must not be retained or redirected.
• Treat all donors, supporters, and members of the public with respect.
4. Fundraising & Donations
All donations collected through Bandanna Day must be directed to Canteen Aotearoa via the official fundraising platform, Funraisin, or other authorised payment methods. Canteen is not responsible for donations lost, misdirected, or handled outside of authorised channels.
When you register as a fundraiser, you will receive a personalised fundraising page hosted on Funraisin. All online donations made through your page are processed securely through the Funraisin platform. By registering, you agree to Funraisin's platform terms of use, which are separate from these Terms and Conditions.
Donations of $5 or more made directly to Canteen Aotearoa are eligible for a tax receipt. Where donors give via your personal fundraising page on Funraisin, receipts will be issued automatically in accordance with Canteen's standard processes.
Canteen reserves the right to audit fundraising activity and may contact you to verify funds raised or methods used.
5. Use of Funds
Funds raised through Bandanna Day support Canteen Aotearoa's programmes and services for rangatahi impacted by cancer. Canteen retains full discretion as to how funds are allocated across its charitable purposes. For more information about how your fundraising makes a difference, visit canteen.org.nz.
6. Communications
By registering as a Bandanna Day fundraiser, you consent to being contacted by Canteen Aotearoa about:
• Your fundraising page and campaign activity.
• Fundraising tips, resources, and support materials.
• Campaign updates, milestones, and thank-you acknowledgements.
• Future Canteen fundraising campaigns and events (where you have not opted out).
Canteen may contact you by any of the following methods:
• Email
• SMS
• Phone call
• Post
You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, replying STOP to any SMS, or contacting us directly at info@canteen.org.nz or 0800 CANTEEN (0800 226 833).
Please note that you may still receive transactional communications related to your fundraising activity (e.g. confirmation of registration, donation receipts) even if you opt out of marketing communications.
7. Privacy & Personal Information
Canteen Aotearoa is committed to protecting your personal information and handles it in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. The personal information you provide when registering as a fundraiser (including your name, contact details, and fundraising activity) will be used to administer the Bandanna Day campaign and to keep you informed about Canteen's work.
Your information will not be sold, exchanged, or rented to third parties. It may be shared with trusted service providers who assist in operating the campaign (such as our fundraising platform provider), subject to confidentiality obligations.
You have the right to access and correct any personal information we hold about you. For full details on how Canteen collects, stores, uses, and discloses personal information, please read our Privacy Policy.
8. Intellectual Property & Campaign Materials
All Bandanna Day campaign materials, including the Bandanna Day name, logo, branding, and related imagery, are the intellectual property of Canteen Aotearoa. These materials are provided to registered fundraisers solely for the purpose of supporting the Bandanna Day campaign.
You must not alter, misuse, or reproduce Canteen's brand materials outside of approved fundraising activity. Any materials provided by Canteen must be returned or destroyed at the conclusion of the campaign if requested.
9. Media & Publicity
By participating in Bandanna Day, you consent to Canteen Aotearoa using your name and any photographs or content you share in connection with the campaign for promotional and publicity purposes, including on Canteen's website, social media channels, and in other communications.

10. Competition Draw
As part of the Bandanna Day campaign, Canteen Aotearoa will conduct a prize draw (the Draw) open to eligible registered fundraisers. The following terms apply to the Draw in addition to the general Terms and Conditions above.
Eligibility
• The Draw is open to registered Bandanna Day fundraisers who are New Zealand residents aged 18 years or older.
• To be eligible for entry into the Draw, a fundraiser must raise a minimum of $1,000 NZD through their official Bandanna Day fundraising page on Funraisin by the close of the campaign.
• Only funds processed through the official Funraisin fundraising page will count toward the $1,000 minimum threshold.
• Fundraisers’ personal donations to their own page will not count towards the minimum of $1,000 NZD prize draw target.
• Employees, board members, and direct family members of employees and board members of Canteen Aotearoa are not eligible to enter the Draw.
Draw Process
• One (1) entry into the Draw will be allocated to each eligible fundraiser who meets the $1,000 minimum threshold by the campaign close date.
• The Draw will be conducted after the campaign has concluded. The exact draw date will be confirmed and communicated to eligible fundraisers.
• The winner will be selected at random from all valid entries by Canteen Aotearoa or its representative.
• The winner will be notified by email and/or phone using the contact details provided at registration. Canteen will make reasonable attempts to contact the winner within 14 days of the Draw.
• If the winner cannot be contacted or does not respond within 14 days of the first contact attempt,
Canteen reserves the right to redraw and select an alternative winner, without liability to any person.
Prizes
• The prize(s) will be confirmed and communicated as part of the Bandanna Day campaign. Canteen reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value at its discretion.
• Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash.
• Canteen takes no responsibility for prizes that are lost or damaged in transit once dispatched.
General
• Canteen's decisions on all matters relating to the Draw are final. No correspondence will be entered into.
• Canteen reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any entrant or winner, and to disqualify any entrant who does not comply with these Terms and Conditions or who Canteen reasonably believes has acted dishonestly or in bad faith.
• Canteen reserves the right to cancel or modify the Draw at any time, including amending the minimum fundraising threshold or prize, with reasonable notice where practicable.
• To the extent permitted by law, Canteen excludes any liability arising directly or indirectly out of or in connection with the Draw.
• Personal information collected in connection with the Draw will be handled in accordance with Canteen’s Privacy Policy.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Canteen Aotearoa will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from your participation in Bandanna Day, including in connection with your fundraising activities or any third-party platform used during the campaign.
You participate in Bandanna Day and conduct any associated fundraising activities at your own risk.
Canteen does not accept responsibility for any loss, injury, or damage suffered by you or any third party in connection with your fundraising activities.
12. Amendments & Cancellation
Canteen Aotearoa reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Any changes will be published on the Bandanna Day registration platform and, where reasonable, communicated to registered fundraisers directly.
Canteen reserves the right to suspend or cancel a fundraiser's registration if, in Canteen's reasonable opinion, these Terms and Conditions have been breached, or if a fundraiser's conduct is inconsistent with Canteen's values or brings the organisation into disrepute.
Canteen also reserves the right to cancel or postpone the Bandanna Day campaign at any time. In such an event, Canteen will communicate with registered fundraisers and handle any funds raised in accordance with its charitable obligations.
13. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising in connection with these Terms and Conditions will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
