Ref: Your individual Canteen ID Number
- You must contact us directly by emailing, fundraising@canteen.org.nz to receive your Canteen ID number. Without this you cannot deposit funds into our bank.
✅ Before You Start
Register your fundraiser
- Please make sure you’ve registered with us before collecting donations — we’ll support you with resources, tips, and any necessary approvals.
- If not using our official fundraising website to fundraise, please email us at fundraising@canteen.org.nz to let us know about your fundraiser.
Use your official fundraising page
- Your online page is the easiest and safest way for people to donate. It also tracks donations in real time and issues tax receipts automatically.
Open Banking QR Code
- Make it as simple as possible! If you’re not accepting donations via our online portal, use our exclusive Opening Banking App: Volley
- Volley is an easy-to-use QR code, that we provide you to use at in-person events such as morning teas, bandanna sales, head shaves etc
- Anyone wishing to make a donation on the spot needs their mobile phone and a data or wifi connection
- They scan the QR code, the link opens Volley, they select their preferred bank. From there, their banking app will open, they hit approve and the donation automatically is sent to Canteen’s bank account.
- This is the easiest and safest way to collect donations at in-person events!

💰 Bank Transfers & EFTPOS Donations
Keep accurate records
- Note each cash donation and the donor’s name (if they’re happy to share it). This helps with transparency and thank-yous.
Store cash securely
- Use a secure cash box or sealed container. Never leave money unattended and deposit it into a bank account promptly.
Deposit funds as soon as possible
You can:

- Deposit the total into your personal account and donate the full amount via electronic bank transfer to the bank account listed above. You will need a Canteen ID number to do this, so you must contact us prior to depositing money.
Use EFTPOS with permission
- If you’re using an EFTPOS machine at your event, make sure it’s clearly labelled that donations are going to Canteen Aotearoa.
💻 Online Donations
Always link back to your fundraising page
- Share it on social media, emails, posters, or QR codes — it’s the easiest way for people to give and get a receipt.
Don’t collect credit card info manually
- For privacy and security, all card donations must go through your official page or our secure donation forms.
🧾 Issuing Receipts
Online donations
- Receipts are issued automatically for all donations over $5 through your fundraising page.
Cash donations
We can issue tax receipts for cash donations if you record:
- Full name
- Email or postal address
- Exact amount given
✉️ Send these details to fundraising@canteen.org.nz after your event in an excel grid. We will not accept handwritten photocopies, word documents, or text files.
🧡 Transparency & Integrity
- Be honest about where the money is going. Let donors know you’re fundraising for Canteen Aotearoa and how the funds will be used.
- Avoid mixing fundraising money with personal funds where possible.
